This is a nice lot of 5 baculite fossils from Montana. Baculites are a type of extinct cephalopod that lived during the Late Cretaceous time period. Adult baculites had long, straight shells. The head of the marine creature protruded from an opening at one end of the shell. Within the shell there were numerous chambered sections which the animal could use to control its buoyancy. These would be great for educational purposes!
