This is a genuine Iron Nickel Nantan meteorite. The weight of this meteorite is 32.2 grams. It measures 2 inches in length, 1 inch in width, and 1/4 inch in thickness. Included with the meteorite is a nice color information card and a certificate of authenticity.
Nantans contain a trace amount of chlorine which causes them to oxidize more quickly than other meteorites. That's what gives them their unique and beautiful brownish-red color. Due to this fact, we do not recommend cutting and polishing these pieces. They need to be protected at least once a year by soaking them in mineral oil. This is a great gift for meteorite collectors!
