Up for sale is a really neat fossil – it’s called an “epoccipital” which is a triangular shaped bone that was found on the frill or headplate of triceratops dinosaurs.   This particular epoccipital is really well preserved and intact.   It was found in the Hell Creek Formation.  Included with the fossil is a nice glass-topped display box.

Triceratops was a plant-eating dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous Period, approximately 68 million years ago.   It is one of the most recognizable of all the dinosaurs.
