Up for sale is an unprepared Oreodont skull.  I believe this is Leptauchenia.  It looks like upper and lower pieces are present.   This would be a fun project for someone!  To prepare the skulls, an engraving tool or a scribe can be used to clean the rock or matrix away from the bone.

Because the eyes and nostrils were placed high on the head, it was long assumed that Leptauchenia was an aquatic, or semi-aquatic animal.  However, because their fossils have never been found in floodplain deposits or river channels, and their plague-like abundance in fossil sand dunes, it has been suggested that they were desert-dwelling animals.  It is thought that the high-placed eyes and nostrils served to filter out sand while burrowing.    Oreodonts lived approximately 30 million years ago during the Oligocene time period.
