INSECT NODULES
Miocene Time Period
15 Million Years Old
Mule Canyon – Calico Mountains
Barstow Formation
California, USA
These rocks may not look like much…you’d never know that they contain insect microfossils inside! These nodules of calcium carbonate were formed during the Miocene time period, approximately 15 million years ago. When an acid prep is done on the nodules, tiny, fossilized insects, including beetle larvae, gnats, and spiders can be found!
If you purchase this item, you will receive about 15-17 pounds of nodules that will be shipped in a medium flat rate box. These are fun to sell at fossil shows or for free gifts! We have a nice article about these insect nodules that we can include when we ship you the fossils.
